What Our Clients Say

Great break for Brisbane with friends

Absolutely fabulous winter break.
Three nights in two superbly appointed cabins set in a breathtaking rural setting only 10 minutes from the amenities of Stanthorpe and the Wineries. Both cabins are fully equipped for inhouse dining with breakfast cereals and coffee machine included.
Bedding, bathroom and lounge equipped to a very high standard.
A highlight of our visit was a half day winery tour with Maxi Tours including a fabulous lunch wit pick up and drop off from our front door.
Wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

Blissful Country Escape

We found this little gem thanks to the previous review on TripAdvisor. It was exactly what we were after. A blissful country escape with high quality furnishings. Every detail was taken care of and we didn’t want to leave. It was in such a cosy and serene spot with delightful sunsets, birds chirping in the paddock.

I can’t speak more highly on the hospitality provided by Margaret and Michael. We saw them briefly over the weekend but apart from that we felt like we had the farm to ourselves. We’d definitely return.

Celina J

Immaculate country cottage

We had a lovely weekend at the HEATH lodge. Comfortable bed, capacious bedroom and living area. Great view to the farm. Clean and tidy, great breakfast selections. Margaret was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!

Magical!

This was our first stay in Stanthorpe and trying to find a decently priced cabin whose decor doesn’t look like it was styled by my 94 year old grandma proved a challenge.
We hit the jackpot with Alpine Lodges!! We stayed in the 1 bedroom Orchid Lodge which was secluded (we did not see another person during our stay), gorgeous inside and so beautifully and elegantly appointed (right down to the Royal Doulton cutlery).
Margaret was so helpful with suggestions on things to see and do in the area and recommending restaurants and activities.
It is a little out of Stanthorpe itself (about 10 mins drive) but that is what we were chasing for a romantic weekend away.

5 star accomodation

Spent our 10th wedding anniversary in the Heath Lodge. Magnificent accomodation, comfortable, clean, relaxing and quiet. Great place to stay to wind down. Breakfast food was supplied and the customer service was so pleasant and courteous. A great place to stay and will definitely be back again. Thank you so much for making our weekend away so remarkable.

Restful escape from the city

Last week we spent a weekend at Alpine lodges and we will be back. From the very comfortable and warm lodge, to the perfectly quiet mornings and evenings listening to the birds. The owners are very welcoming and leave you with enough breakfast goodies to make sure you are nice and full before a day of wine tasting. Definitely recommend if you want an escape or somewhere to base yourself for wine tours around Stanthorpe.

The Perfect Retreat

Our stay in Orchid Lodge exceeded expectations. The cabin is spotlessly clean, the bathroom amenities are top notch. The breakfast provisions are plentiful and good quality. Excellent range of magazines. Wonderful heating system and electric blankets. The gas fireplace makes the Lodge a homey place to just stay in. Everywhere you sit, there is something lovely or thoughtfully displayed in your line of vision. Stylish and modern, this was a delightful place to stay. There are lovely wineries to visit and great restaurants to eat at in the area but once we saw how beautifully appointed Orchid Lodge was, it was a no-brainer decision to stay in, eat in and enjoy the natural surroundings. You have complete privacy but if you happen to meet them (as we did, in the driveway on the way back to Lodge one afternoon), Margaret and Michael are very kind and welcoming. On our last day I was already planning to come back, and have since recommended this wonderful accommodation to friends, family and professional colleagues who are looking for a total escape into luxury. Congratulations Michael and Margaret.

Blissful excellence

We had the pleasure of staying at Alpine Lodges in July 2017. The cabins are outstanding and set amongst the most picturesque of settings. I was initially worried about staying in Stanthorpe during the winter months as I really feel the cold… However, the cabins are warm, welcoming and beautifully equip – to the point you never want to leave. The food provided was of excellent standard and the hospitality of the owners was outstanding. We will definitely be returning. Our tip – if you love a bath make sure you mention this upon booking as only 1 of the cabins has bath facilities. (LGBT friendly)

Gorgeous, relaxing stay

We loved our stay in the Orchid lodge and I am insisting that my husband take us back very very soon. From the moment we walked in we were relaxed. We spent our first evening just reading the magazines supplied by the gas fire, something I haven’t done in months. The shower was incredible, it was a struggle to drag myself out, likewise for the massive, comfy bed. The parrots that came to visit in the morning added to our feeling of calm.

Amanda

Alpine Lodges – Heath Lodge Amazing

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed, Heath Lodge is divine, surrounded by countryside and Kookaburras. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Margaret is lovely and spent some time recommending things to do. I would highly recommend this place for a couple looking for somewhere quiet to retreat.

Trish P

Very peaceful

My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights in Orchid Lodge. It was beautifully appointed with modern furniture and was very comfortable. We were delighted with the peace and tranquility of the place. If you are looking to get away from everybody and everything, this is the place for you. We managed to visit most tourist places in and around Stanthorpe. The only thing was a lot of the smaller wineries are closed through the week, only opening on the weekends which was disappointing. But we still managed to buy a lot of wine somehow!!!

Exactly what was needed!!!

My boyfriend and I lead busy and somewhat stressful lives and time to ourselves is very rare. So we organised a long weekend away somewhere quiet, peaceful tranquil and relaxing. The whole point of our getaway was to do nothing really.
We chose the Alpine Lodges as our accommodation and I tell you it was a great one!
Our little cabin was gorgeous, our view was fantastic. The land was just so quiet and peaceful.
Margaret and Michael were such fantastic hosts, making sure we were settled and had everything we needed.
I wish we had stayed longer and will definitely be back to stay here.

Beautiful accommodation in a tranquil setting

My partner and I stayed 2 nights in the Heath Room. The accommodation was beautiful and we were very impressed with all the ‘finishing touches’, such as the heated towel rack and spa, the supplied pantry items, the slippers and robes, and even the music that was playing on arrival. Margaret and Michael were both friendly and attentive – stopping by on our second day to make sure everything was okay.
We loved the surrounding scenery. It was a great weekend away and I am definitely keen to return – hopefully next time for a longer stay!

Lisa A

Beautiful, Elegant, Tranquil

What an incredible weekend away. The place has excellent finishing and was thoughtfully presented. Margaret was a fabulous host. The gowns and slippers were a treat and bathroom products very fancy. Everything you could possibly require for breakfast selection. The cows and kangaroos in the surrounding area gave us the feel we wanted, a country escape. Not a person in site yet close enough to town to get picked up for a wine tour or to drive into town for dinner. We will most certainly be back.

Kim F

Lovely purpose built cottage, where every comfort is provided, out in the countryside but easy access to Stanthorpe

A one bedroom cottage, with lovely facilities (eg heated towel rails in bathroom and under floor heating) ideal for our mid winter visit. The kitchen was more than well stocked for breakfast making, and there was a large range of teas to choose from, plus coffee for the plunger. Fresh fruit and local olive oil. The secluded location, and easy access to local wineries makes the lodges an ideal place from which to experience the southern Darling Downs area.

Margaret

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful

We’ve stayed at Alpine lodges a number of times over the years and have never failed to have a lovely time. The bungalows are comfortable and well appointed, curiously not very cosy but incredibly comfortable. Everything is immaculate and really it’s hard to find fault.
We’re always looking forward to the next time we can visit.

Alpine Lodges in Autumn = Beautiful!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid-Autumn and absolutely loved it. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and so very peaceful! Both cabins are immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. There were ample breakfast provisions and the kitchens were stocked with enough items to ensure we could stay in and cook after a big day visiting wineries and national parks. The grazing kangaroos on the property just added to the experience, making it a fantastic long weekend. A big thank you to our lovely host, Margaret, who made our stay so easy and relaxing. I would highly recommend Alpine Lodges.

Gorgeous modern accomodation in the Granite Belt

My 3 girlfriends and I recently stayed here for a wine weekend, wind down for my friend’s 40th birthday. Being 4 girls, who were happy to share the accomodation, the set up of the 2 apartments was perfect. Margaret, the hostess, was so lovely and accomodating, even splitting the king bed for us so we had our own beds. She also was caring enough to ring us and offer us a full refund if we wanted to cancel last minute due to the horrendous wet weather event that hit the night before our stay. The rooms are gorgeous and modern, with every mod-con you could ask for, and the breakfast provisions were very generous. It is located close to everything the Granite Belt has to offer, but feels very secluded. We’d highly recommend these gorgeous rooms for a romantic weekend away, or for a fun girls trip.

Gemma R

4 stars is an understatement!

We stayed 3 nights in September 2014 in the Heath Lodge. It is clear that it was newly built and that no expense was spared in the fit-out. The spa was deep, the blankets were plush, the breakfast provisions were generous and the smart tv was easy to operate.
We had a cherry blossum garden out the front window and through the back window there were alpacas grazing in the distance.
We will be recommending it highly and widely.

Meggen L

Wonderfully peaceful position

We had two nights in Orchid Lodge recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were not rushing around the wineries because we didn’t need to. We had all we needed right there at the Lodge.
The outlook and peace and quiet was intoxicating and the wildlife put on a good display for us. The night sky was absolutely beautiful and full of stars (of course). The amenities and furnishings are luxurious and made our stay all the more pleasant.
Highly recommend a stay at this place! Thanks Margaret.

Peaceful Serenity

We stayed here for 3 nights and must say it is the beautiful location and the cottage is so comfortable and is five star. Would highly recommend this lovely hideaway with the afternoon you see kangaroos feeding out in the back of the property.
Thanks so much Margaret we totally enjoyed our stay and the Alpine Lodge is laid out beautifully.

Krisanne

Peaceful, beautiful and a great getaway

We stayed at the Orchid lodge and found it to be an ideal getaway. Margaret looked after our every needs. The lodge has a fantastic view of the countryside – it was wonderfully peaceful to wake up to the birds and quiet of the country. We wanted somewhere off the highway, yet close to the vineyards and attractions around Stanthorpe. The cottage was clean, the linen was great and the well stocked kitchen provided us with breakfast and more for the duration. Would recommend it for anyone wanting a short stay around Stanthorpe.

John B

Beautifully appointed…

The Orchid Lodge is beautifully appointed. Tucked away in rugged countryside of the Granite Belt there was nothing rugged about the accommodation. Well stocked kitchen – nothing left unattended. Gorgeous bath products. Luxurious linen. We had a wonderful long weekend.

A Weekend Proposal

Thanks to Margaret for all her help with our weekend we had out at Alpine Lodges in Stanthorpe recently. You helped make my proposal to my long term girlfriend all that more special.
Wonderful location, beautiful weather, friendly people… Nothing more could’ve made this moment more perfect!
Thanks again!

Luxurious lodge in a stunning setting…..

We have just spent a fantastic weekend celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in ‘Orchid Lodge’. The lodges are a little outside of the main Stanthorpe area but we loved the location of this property as it was both private and set in stunning surroundings. The accommodation was of 5* standard – very modern and chic. The lounge was relaxing, with a large modern TV, high spec kitchen, amazingly comfortable bed and a huge modern bathroom (with heat lights and towel warmers). The fridge and cupboards were well stocked with tea, coffee, cereal and cooked breakfast items. We were initially looking for a place with an open log fire, which Orchard does not have – but in retrospect we are glad we opted for this instead. The cabin has a great central heating system, and there is a fake log fire in the loungeroom which creates the ambience anyways (without the hassle of continually mucking around with a fire and waking up to a freezing cabin in the morning). The host Margaret is very friendly and informative – she even offered to drive us into town for dinner so that we could both drink. We had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again if ever back in Stanthorpe.

Winter Break, terrific location, will return

We have just spent the most wonderful, relaxing three nights away in ‘Orchid Lodge’ on this fantastic property. It was our own private retreat for our stay. The beautiful modern, upmarket accommodation has an exceptional kitchen, luxurious lounge area to relax and enjoy and a spacious bathroom with a groovy heated towel rail. The bedroom was warm and inviting with a king-size bed that you could get lost in. The surrounds were tranquil with an abundance of wildlife. The lodge has front and back verandahs to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Location of the lodges is handy to wineries and the township of Stanthorpe. Margaret and Michael were terrific hosts providing us with our breakfast pack and information about the local area. We will be recommending this location to family and friends.

The perfect, relaxing get away….

My partner and I have stayed at these cottages for the last 2 Easters – the fact that we have come back probably tells the story! The Alpine Lodges are beautifully decorated and are located in a beautiful setting just outside Stanthorpe in QLD.
We have found Margaret to be a lovely host – helping with directions, suggesting things to do and see in he area and providing a beautiful breakfast on our first morning. This cottage and the location is the prefect escape from a busy city life – a chance to read a book, take a country walk or drive and enjoy some fabulous local produce.
Highly recommended for that ‘escape from the city’!
